It happened in Pakistan, when I found in the Hotel Serena Islamabad, where I was staying for over a month in a lobby shop ,this handmade embroidered jacket in pure silk. It's not from a particular designer but I fell in love. As the price was originally too high, I went back several times for one week until we reach an agreement. Beautiful with jeans or a more classic pants...

Foi o que aconteceu quando no Paquistão encontrei numa loja do lobby do Hotel Serena em Islamabad onde estive alojada durante mais de um mês, este casaco bordado à mão em seda pura. Não é de nenhum designer em particular mas apaixonei-me. Como o preço era originalmente, muito alto, voltei várias vezes durante uma semana até chegarmos a acordo. Lindo com uns jeans ou umas calças mais clássicas...
But the crown jewel for me, was what I found in Afghanistan this summer. The Zarif Designs (SEE HERE) is almost a closely guarded secret. Created by an Afghan woman who had left the country during the Russian invasion. Zolaykha, the designer and her family found refuge in Switzerland where she graduated in architecture. In 2001, with the fall of the Taliban, she returned to help with reconstruction and development of her native country. She created Zarif Designs, which employs whole families of artisans who apply their knowledge and ancient traditions in the making of these jackets, which make the perfect bridge between the East and West and between the past and the future.
I bought three! I lost my head, I confess !! But besides loving the designs, colors and materials, I love the project, which employs both men and women in a country that I love and respect.
Mas a joia da coroa para mim, foi o que encontrei no Afeganistão este verão. A Zarif Designs (VER AQUI) é quase um segredo bem guardado. Criado por uma Afegã que havia saído do país aquando da invasão Russa. A designer Zolaykha e a sua família encontraram refugio na Suiça onde se formou em arquitectura. Em 2001, com a queda do regime Talibã regressou para ajudar na recosntrução do país e no seu desenvolvimento. Criou a Zarif Designs onde emprega famílias inteiras de artesãos que aplicam os seus conhecimentos e tradições milenares na feitura destes casacos, que fazem a ponte perfeita entre o Oriente e o Ociedente e entre o passado e o futuro.
Eu comprei três! Perdi a cabeça, confesso!! Mas além de amar os designs,as cores e os materiais, adoro o projecto que dá emprego a homens e mulheres num país que amo e respeito.
